Big news! We’re excited to share that the JCC’s Middle School Leadership Council (MSLC) is now Powered by 4Front! I’m Rebecca Rosenfelt, middle school director at the JCC and newest member of the 4Front team. We are so thrilled to share that middle school is now under the umbrella of the 4Front teen initiative.
What does this mean?
It means MSLC will be stronger than ever. With 4Front as the community’s central address for teens, this partnership brings new resources, energy, and opportunities. But the biggest change? Our middle schoolers’ voices will be louder than ever. While MSLC has always incorporated teen leadership, as we reimagine the council, we want their ideas, creativity, and voices guiding where we go next. Created for teens, by teens.
What’s in store for this year so far?
I am really eager for this year to get started as we explore leadership through the lens of superheroes. Not just Marvel and DC, but everyday heroes, like our parents and health care workers who lead in the more subtle ways. Through games, speakers, immersive activities, cooking, workshops and more we will explore all the different ways to be a leader.
I will be supported by a dedicated team of 8th grade executives who will help lead our meetings. Utilizing the skills they learned in MSLC, our executives will on take leadership roles to guide our council in planning programs and events for the broader middle school community, including Saturday night social events, a day of giving for MLK Day and holiday celebrations.
We’ll also welcome two shinshinim, Yagel and Tamar, to our group- 18-year-old emissaries from Israel, who will bring Israel into the room each session through games, holidays and cultural experiences.
What am I most excited about this year?
This year, I am most excited about all the new things to come to MSLC. This group will have so many opportunities to grow and learn together in fun, unique ways. Life is a “choose your own adventure” book and this partnership will bring that to a new level. No two stories are the same, and we want to help you write yours!
And It Doesn’t Stop in the Spring…Top Notch Teens (TNT) at J Camps is now powered by 4Front too, which means the leadership, friendships and traditions we build during the year will continue all summer long.
